Roulroul (Rollulus rouloul) found in lowland forest of Sumatra, Borneo and the Malay Peninsula. Its name is perhaps owed to the two syllable whistled calls given in the dawn. This bird also referred to as the Crested Partridge, is found in flocks or coveys of up to a dozen or more birds, digging through the leaf litter of the forest floor in search of food such as fallen fruit. The male has the distinctive white forehead and erect rufus crest. Females of the species as depicted to the left and bottom have a gray head.
